Start with a tiny level: a starting spot, one platform, and a finish flag. The platform could wobble before it disappears, giving players a clue. How long should they have to jump? Sketch it first, then we can work through how to build it. **Parent guidance:** “Break big ideas into small first steps. Let them make the creative choices.” ### Imagine: Dream up a story **Let’s invent a dragon who loves baking.** Meet Pip, a dragon whose sneezes toast marshmallows! Today, Pip is baking a cloud cake. What should the secret ingredient be: moonberries or a spoonful of giggles? **Parent guidance:** “Leave the next twist to them. There’s more than one way to tell a story.” ### Find courage: Take a brave little step **How can I say hello to someone new?** A little hello is a lovely start. You could try, “Hi! What do you like to play?” It’s okay to feel shy. Want to practice together before you give it a go? **Parent guidance:** “Use a gentle tone. Practice small steps together, and encourage talking with a trusted adult.” ### A little help with what’s on their screen. NewPal is a parent-configured AI companion that helps children ask questions, learn, imagine, and talk through everyday moments. Parents choose how the companion communicates and can review conversations in their dashboard. ### Who is it for? NewPal is designed for children aged 7–12, with a parent setting up and guiding the experience. It is a companion for curiosity and everyday support, not a replacement for parents, teachers, or professional advice. ### How do I teach the companion about my child? Write instructions in everyday language: what to encourage, how to explain things, or when to offer a gentle nudge. Add useful memories, such as an interest or a new routine. You can update or remove these as your child’s needs change. This guidance helps personalize responses; it does not guarantee a particular learning or emotional outcome. ### Does the companion learn as we use it? It uses conversation context and saved memories to make replies more relevant. If you enable memory suggestions, it can notice recurring interests and suggest memories for your review; those suggestions need your approval before they are used. A child can also directly ask it to remember an appropriate fact or preference. Parents can review, edit, or delete saved memories. ### Does it listen all the time? No. Children start interactions on a paired device. NewPal does not perform ambient listening. Conversations are available to authorized parents; it is not a private or secret conversation service for children. ### How can our family get started? NewPal is currently an invitation-only pilot.
